NOPJF PROGRAMS
NOPJF programs support the three key goals essential to restoring faith in the Orleans Parish Justice System:
- Retain and restore essential human capital
- Rebuild and restore critical infrastructure
- Improve operational effectiveness and efficiency
To achieve these goals, the NOPJF has implemented several programs on behalf of the Orleans Parish criminal justice system, including:
- Distribution of housing subsidies to members of the NOPD
- Marketing and incentive support for NOPD recruiting
- Continued subsidizing of college tuition for NOPD employees
- Acquisition of essential crime-fighting supplies (including bullet-proof vests)
- Reimbursements for targeted professional training
- Support for community outreach/ crime prevention, including:
- Summer camps for at-risk youth
- Increases in community policing initiatives
- Enhancing leadership and resources to improve justice operations, including:
- Implementation of an integrated information-sharing system (OPISIS Project)
- Establishment of a new, improved crime lab
- Re-engineering DA/NOPD communication protocols
- Creating a new, system-wide evidence-handling process
- Improving coordination between local, regional, and federal enforcement
- Operational reform of NOPD Public Integrity Bureau
NOPJF FUNDS
To rebuild, strengthen and reform the criminal justice system in New Orleans, the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation depends on the contributions of concerned, committed individuals and organizations. Financial
contributions to the NOPJF are fully tax-deductible.
Gifts of unrestricted funds allow the NOPJF the flexibility to respond to urgent justice system needs as they arise. Contributions also may be dedicated to specific NOPJF endeavors, including (but not limited to):
- First Responder Housing Subsidies
- NOPD College Tuition Assistance
- Recruiting Incentive Bonuses
- Recruiting Marketing
- Orleans Parish Integrated Systems Information Sharing Project (OPISIS)
- COPS for Kids Summer Camp
- NOPD “Be the Best You Can Be” Summer Camp Program for Young Adults
- NOPD Tragedy Fund
- Studies, Assessments and Research Projects
